WSU Workforce Training Scholarships

WSU Tri-Cities has partnered with the Cities of Pasco and Richland and Visit Tri-Cities to offer scholarships for workforce training and certificates to businesses and individuals located in Pasco, WA or Richland, WA through WSU's Workforce Training Opportunities.

WSU Tri-Cities Workforce Training benefits employers by preparing employees for the workforce as well as aiding in employee satisfaction and retention. It supports employees by enhancing professional growth and developing new skillsets in an ever-changing workforce landscape. If you are a resident of the City of Pasco or the City of Richland, own a business or are employed by a Pasco-based business or Richland-based business, and are interested in learning more about the training opportunities, please see the list of available courses below.To apply for a scholarship, please fill out the form located on the bottom of this page. Scholarship opportunities are granted to qualified candidates on a first come, first served basis, so apply early.

Scholarship funding is limited. Please note that anyone can register for courses, regardless of scholarship funding.

Wine Tasting Room Training Certificate

This online, on-demand course is designed to take you on a journey to better understand the role and skills of a tasting room server. By working through the topics in these modules, you will increase your knowledge of wine, including proper serving techniques and guest service skills. You will become more confident in selling wine and making suggestions to your guests. Enhancing the guest experience is foremost in developing as a certified tasting room server.

Wine Business Management Certificate

The one-year certificate program in wine business management is a non-credit, professional certificate program open to those seriously interested in working in the wine industry or expanding their knowledge to enhance their current position.

Students may take individual modules, or they may take all of the modules to gain the full certificate. Different Modules are offered throughout the year.

Fundamentals of Business Certificate

We all have an intuitive grasp of what a business is: we work for them, work with them as partners or suppliers, are customers of them, or even own them. We use our practical knowledge when interacting with businesses, whether the family-owned restaurant down the street or the multinational supplier of our consumer electronics. In this online, on-demand course, we look inside to identify how businesses work: how they are structured, what functions they perform, the constraints they operate under, and what ultimately enables them to survive and grow – or dooms them to failure.

Cultivating Service Excellence Certificate

This course is designed to equip employees, from every industry, with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide extraordinary service. In this training, you will gain a set of service skills proven to increase customer satisfaction, build strong relationships, and impact the success of your organization.

Financial Well-Being of the Organization

This series of modules is designed to provide foundational knowledge on the importance of finance within an organization. The modules build an understanding of using financial statements to guide decisions, analyzing the value created by potential investment projects, and the importance of working capital management, an often- overlooked area of finance within an organization. Each module introduces material through learning activities such as self-guided learning and group discussions. These learning activities culminate with opportunities for participants to apply the concepts learned within their own organization.
