The Sacajawea Historical State Park & Interpretive Center uses the popular spelling of Sacajawea – multiple spellings of the Indian maiden's name can be found throughout the journals and interpretive centers.
Commemorating the Lewis & Clark expedition's historic visit to our area, the park was named for Sacajawea, interpreter for the Lewis and Clark party and the only woman on the expedition.
This state-run visitor center features the stories of Sacajawea and the Lewis & Clark trail and expedition as well as Native American history. Don’t miss the seven story circle art installations by internationally known artist Maya Lin, most famous for designing the black granite Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
